Mustang Renewable Power Ventures (Mustang) seeks to create sustainable economic solutions for the solid waste industry while maximizing the value of the waste stream.
We focus on maximizing landfill diversion using proven European technologies such as mixed waste optical sorting, anaerobic digestion, composting and engineered fuel processing to minimize residue without the use of combustion technology. We have found this technology portfolio approach to be the most effective at Greenhouse Gas Reductions based on the US EPA Waste Reduction Model compared to conventional RDF or mass burn waste to energy plants.

Motivation |
There is a growing concern nationwide regarding climate change, and many states are starting to address the issue. Several of these states--namely California and Oregon--have incorporated the reduction of waste as a strategy to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other issues. In addition, many landfills nationwide will reach capacity and will close in less than a decade. Mustang was inspired both by state action against climate change and the depleting landfill capacity.
